Sedation

Many children experience fear and anxiety surrounding their dental treatment, and we understand. At Anthem Pediatric Dentistry, we proudly offer a simple solution. Depending on the age of the child, their behavior, and the treatment needed, we offer sedation services to make your child’s experience much more comfortable.

Nitrous Oxide

Also known as “laughing gas,” this simple treatment helps relax children with mild to moderate anxiety about their dental work. This dental treatment has been recognized by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry to be entirely safe and effective, and the gas is eliminated from the body within minutes of it being stopped. Your child will remain awake and able to interact the entire time.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Any children with extensive treatment needs may require conscious sedation. We will give your child an oral medication that will allow them to relax while minimizing their fear and discomfort. The intended effect is drowsiness, but children will remain conscious. Children undergoing oral conscious sedation are heavily monitored and protected to make sure they are absolutely safe.

General Anesthesia

Any child with extensive dental needs or children who are unable to cooperate may require general anesthesia, which will put them to sleep during the procedure. Our anesthesiologist will put them to sleep, allowing us to complete any necessary dental procedure. We would be happy to discuss this option with you if you think it is necessary.
