Chipped tooth on the playground. A toothache that starts at bedtime. A tooth was knocked loose during a game. Dental emergencies do not wait for office hours, and neither do we. Our pediatric dentists know how to quickly put a frightened child at ease, and our established patients can reach us around the clock.
Do First
Call us as soon as you can in any of these situations. While you are on your way, here is what helps most.
Knocked-Out Permanent Tooth
This is the most time-sensitive dental emergency. Call us immediately.
Do this now: pick the tooth up by the crown, not the root, and avoid scrubbing it. Keep it moist, and bring it with you.
Knocked-Out Baby Tooth
Handled differently from a permanent tooth. Call us, and we will advise you on the spot.
Do this now: do not try to put a baby tooth back in place. Control any bleeding with gentle pressure and call us.
Chipped or Broken Tooth
Common and usually treatable the same day. Save any pieces you can find.
Do this now: Rinse your child’s mouth gently with warm water and apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek to reduce swelling.
Toothache That Will Not Settle
Persistent pain usually means something needs treating, not waiting out.
Do this now: rinse gently with warm water and check for anything lodged between the teeth. Call us to be seen.
Swelling of the Gum, Face, or Jaw
Swelling can signal infection, which needs prompt attention rather than a wait-and-see approach.
Do this now: call us. If swelling is spreading quickly or your child has a high fever, see the emergency room guidance below.
Object Stuck Between Teeth
Uncomfortable and sometimes distressing, but usually straightforward to resolve.
Do this now: try gentle flossing. Do not use anything sharp or metal to dig at it. Call us if it does not come free.
Lost Filling or Crown
Usually not painful right away, but the tooth underneath needs protection.
Do this now: keep the area clean, avoid chewing on that side, and call us to arrange a visit.
Broken Braces Wire or Bracket
Our orthodontic patients can also call us about poking wires and loose brackets.
Do this now: If a wire is poking, cover the end with orthodontic wax if you have it, then call us.
When to Go to the Emergency Room Instead
A pediatric dental office is the right place for most tooth injuries, but not all. Go to the nearest hospital emergency room, or call 911, if your child has any of the following:
- A serious injury to the head or face, or any loss of consciousness
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Bleeding that will not stop with gentle pressure
- A suspected broken or dislocated jaw
- Facial swelling together with a high fever, or swelling that is spreading quickly
Around-the-Clock Access for Our Patients
Emergency dental services are available to our existing patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If your child is already part of our practice, you do not have to wait until Monday morning or sit in an urgent care waiting room. Call the office, and you will reach us.
Not a patient with us yet? Call during office hours, and our team will do everything possible to get your child seen quickly. If we cannot reach you in time, the emergency room guidance above tells you when a hospital is the right call. Once your child is established with us, that 24/7 access becomes yours too.
Office hours at both locations are Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Friday, 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Why Parents Trust Us in an Emergency
A dental emergency is frightening for a child and stressful for a parent. Both matter to us.

- Parents can always stay with their children during appointments, which matters most when a child is upset.
- Sedation options for children with dental anxiety or special healthcare needs, so treatment can happen calmly.
- Low-radiation digital X-rays to see exactly what is going on beneath the surface.
- We work to keep wait times short, which matters even more when your child is in pain.
- Two convenient locations in Henderson and East Las Vegas.

Emergency Questions Parents Ask
Do you see emergencies after hours?
Yes, for our existing patients. Emergency dental services are available to established patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If your child is not yet a patient with us, call during office hours, and our team will do everything possible to see them quickly.
My child knocked out a permanent tooth. How fast do I need to act?
Immediately. This is the most time-sensitive dental emergency, so call us as soon as you can and bring the tooth with you.
Should I go to the emergency room or call you?
For tooth injuries, toothaches, and most dental problems, call us first. Go to the emergency room for serious head or facial injuries, difficulty breathing or swallowing, bleeding that will not stop, or a suspected broken jaw.
My child is terrified. Can you still treat them?
Yes. We offer sedation options for children with dental anxiety or special healthcare needs, and parents can always stay with their child during the appointment.
